"Mrs Sarah Alice Wolff, aged 97 years, widow of James P Wolff, one of the founders of Wolf and McKown, died at 8:10 o'clock last night at the home of her son Charles E Wolff, 136 Clayton Avenue of infirmities of age. Mrs Wolff had been in ill health for the last two and a half months and critically ill and confined to her bed for the last two weeks. Mrs Wolff passed her 97th birthday on December 9. She was born in Washington County, Maryland, on the Williamsport Pike near Huyett's crossroads, the daughter of Jacob and Christina (Good) Funk. Mrs Wolff had lived in Waynesboro for approximately 72 years, coming her shortly after marriage. Her husband died in 1908. She was the last of a family of nine children. She was for many years a member of the Methodist Church and a charter member of one of the several societies now united and known as the Women's Society of Christian Service and a member of the Gleaner's Sunday School Class. She was active in church and Sunday School work and the affairs of the community. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of the Waynesboro Hospital. Surviving is one son, Charles E Wolff, 136 Clayton Avenue. Six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home in charge of the Rev. W.L. Crowding. Interment will be made in Burns Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wolff home Saturday evening."
