On 1 April 1896 in Grapevine, Tarrant County, Texas, 34-year-old Mary Giles Rogers married 31-year-old Lewis Edgar Dunn. This was the 2nd marriage for both, Lewis having been previously married to Laura Howell.

The 68-year-old widow, Mary G. Dunn, is living in Wichita Falls, Wichita, Texas, with her daughter Lucynda and son-in-law, Johnnie H Barnes, a silk hosiery salesman.
In 1931, several years after her husband died, Mary decided to return to Chesterfield, VA and live with her brother, Cornelius Wood Fuqua and his wife, Mary Lucinda Bailey. At this time she and Jimmy Cheatham renewed their acquaintance of many years before.
On 29 March 1932 in Chesterfield County, Virginia, the 70-year-old widow, Mary Giles (Fuqua) Dunn, married the 68-year-old widower, James Josiah Cheatham, son of Richard Marcellus Cheatham and Obedience Bailey.

Because James Cheatham was a long-time member of Tomahawk Baptist Church, it is highly likely that they were married at that church.

The Certificate of Death records her death at 11:24 a.m. on 24 Feb 1944 in Chesterfield County, Virginia. She was 82 years old. The medical examiner, J.B. Fisher M.D., determined immediate cause of death was due to cerebral hemorrhage, which was due to arteriosclerosis (coded 083A).
