Biography

Henry Förster was born in Dec 1849[1][2] in Germany.

Pauline Kleiner and Henry Förster were married about 1872,[1] probably in Germany.

Heinrich Förster, his wife Pauline and 6 children sailed on 14 March 1882 aboard the SS Berlin from Hamburg, via Glasgow. The families residence had been Breslau in Schlesien. Heinrich was a laborer (Arbeiter).[3] The family changed ships in Glasgow, boarding the SS State of Indiana, debarking in New York on 8 April 1882.[4] The ship left Glasgow on 25 March and arrived at New York on 6 April 1882. You can see a picture of the ship at Norway Hands Across the Sea.[5]

In 1892, "Henery Forester" lived in Great Valley District, ED 1, with his wife Paulina and 6 children. He was born in Germany but was an American citizen. Henery was a galvanizer.[6]

In 1900, Henry and Pauline Forster (erroneously listed on the census as Foster), lived on the Allegany Indian Reservation in Great Valley Township, Cattaraugus, New York, with three children. Henry worked as a railroad coach cleaner. Henry and Pauline say that they came to the United States 18 years ago, in 1882.[1]

Henry Forster died on 18 Feb 1919 at Salamanca, New York.[7] He is buried at the Wildwood Cemetery, Salamanca, Cattaraugus, New York.[2]
