Elias was born in Ohio in 1847, the son of Jarret Gabriel and Elizabeth Logan.^[1] He was a Private in the Union Army in the Civil War with Company D, 153rd Indiana Infantry.^[2] He married Sarah McNeal in Indiana in 1874.^[3] Elias passed away in Indiana in 1914^[4] and is buried in Marion, Indiana.^[5]
