Father Francis Herbert Gallagher was born in 1900 in Krambach, New South Wales (Australia). He was the sixth and youngest son of John Gallagher and Mary Moy. [1]
He became a Roman Catholic Priest.
On 6th July 1940 he was commissioned as a Roman Catholic Chaplain in the Second Australian Imperial Force. He was attached to the 2/1st Australian Infantry Battalion at the beginning of the Kokoda Campaign in September 1942. He was discharged on 2nd January 1946. [2]
