Savage apparently misread the handwriting in Roxbury records, reading Baker for Bacon (then written Baken). He thus asserted that Mary Gamlin was the wife of Thomas Baker. This has since been clarified, due to children's records, alignment of dates, and other contemporaneous accounts. Mary Gamlin was the wife of Thomas Bacon (Baken).

Mary was born 6 March 1641/2 to Robert Gamlin in Boston, Massachusetts.[1]

Mary Gamlin and Thomas Bacon were married 27 may 1663.[2]
