Elizabeth Garfield was born at Watertown, Massachusetts on August 10, 1708, daughter of Thomas Garfield and Mercy Biglow. [1][2]
She married Samuel Brooks on September 6, 1738 at Weston, Massachusetts [3][4] Her husband Samuel was born at Concord, Massachusetts on May 5, 1694, son of Daniel and Anna (Merriam) Brookes. [5][4][6]
Samuel's father Daniel, died at Concord on October 18, 1733 [5] In his will, written on January 6, 1728/9 and allowed on October 29, 1733, he left son Samuel all my buildings, excepting a room in the dwelling house to be for Samuel's mother Anna, my orchard, half my meadow and all my woodland. [7]
Elizabeth's father Thomas Garfield Sr., of Weston, Massachusetts wrote his will on January 27, 1752. Among his bequests to all his children including daughter Elizabeth Brooks L5 6s to be paid within 5 years after his decease. [8]
In his will, Samuel left specific instructions on the division of household goods, among his wife and daughters. On March 27, 1759, the appointed appraisers, listed the inventory and distribution of those goods to:

daughters Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Anna and Mercy [9]
On July 3, 1758, widow Elizabeth Brooks, was appointed guardian to the following minor children of Samuel Brooks, all under age 14 years of age:
Marcy born on April 26, 1755/6; died on April 27, 1770. [5]
