Biography

Keziah Gaskill was born 10 June 1786 in Burlington, Province of New Jersey, daughter of Caleb Gaskill (1740–1817) and Hope Rossell (1745–1817).^[1][2]

Keziah and Joseph Sutton were married in about 1800 in Pennsylvania, United States.^[3] they had the following known children: (Unless otherwise noted, names come from History of Licking County.)

Joseph left Fayette in about 1801 and traveled west to Licking County, Ohio on foot, where he cleared ground to prepare to bring his family back, to farm.^[4] He returned that autumn and Joseph, Keziah, and their small son Benjamin traveled to their new home in Ohio the following spring.^[3]

By 1820, they had a farm in Franklin, Licking County, and were a household of nine.^[5] Ten years later, they were enumerated as a household of eight.^[6]

In 1850, their son Alvah and their daughter Electa remained at home with them.^[7] Joseph died on the farm a few years later.^[3]

Keziah died on 20 March 1856 in Licking County, Ohio, United States, aged 69. She was buried in Jacksontown Cemetery, Jacksontown, Licking County, Ohio.^[1]
