Eugen was a German-American entrepreneur and banker. He was the son of of Carl Friedrich Gauß and Friederica Wilhelmine "Minna", née Waldeck. He emigrated to the United States as a student. After a decade as a soldier and fur trader, he founded a successful business in St. Charles, Missouri and became the first president of the First National Bank in St. Charles.
He married Henrietta Fawcett in 1844 in St. Charles.[1]
