Biography
Robert was christened on 08 August 1841 in Overton St Helen, Lancashire, England. [1] The record of the christening identifies his father as Ralph Gerrard, an innkeeper resident in Glasson Dock, and his mother as Elizabeth Gerrard.
According the the 1881 census, Robert worked as a joiner in Skerton, Lancashire. He was married to Martha, and their children, all born in Skerton, were Elizabeth (13), Millicent (12), John (4) and Richard (2). [2]
The 1901 census shows Robert, still working as a joiner, living in Skerton with his daughter Jane (now married, known as Jane Harmer), Jane's children Millicent (9), Robert (7) and Thomas (3), and Robert's younger daughter Martha (16). [3]
