Biography

Elizabeth Gibbs was born April 8, 1717, the daughter of Thomas Gibbs and Joanna Swift of Sandwich, Massachusetts^{[1] [2] [2]}

On September 18, 1736, she married Samuel, the son of Samuel Maxim and Hannah Perry, in Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts^{[3] [4] [2] [5]}. Their children included^[6]

1. Hannah, born July 2, 1737^{[7] [5] [6]}
2. Nathan, born October 2, 1739^{[8] [6]}, who married Martha Chibbick^[5]
3. David, born Sept 30, 1741^{[9] [6]}, who married Rebecca Besse^[5]
4. Ezra^[5], who was a minor when his father died^[10]
5. Elizabeth, born Jan 19, 1743^{[6][5] [11] [10]}
6. Caleb, born June 9, 1746^{[12] [6] [5]}
7. Samuel, born September 12, 1748^{[13][6] [10]}

Elizabeth was alive when her husband's estate passed probate, and guardianship of the minor children was confirmed in 1762^[10]. According to "The Maxim-Maxham-Maxam Family" in TAG, vol 57, Oct 1981 p. 212, written by John Leppman, Elizabeth d. 17 Sep 1791 in Wareham.
