James Gibson was born in 1875 [1] in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England, the son of William Gibson and Isabella Callow.
In 1881 he was with his parents and siblings in Whitehaven. [2]
In the 1891 census he (age 16) was the son of Isabella Gibson in West Derby, Lancashire.[3]
He married Ellen Peet on 5 August 1901 at St Peter's church, Liverpool, Lancashire. He was a mariner. [4]
