Biography

Joseph H. Gidley was a mariner in June of 1863, and lived in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.

By January of 1865, he had traveled to Bucyrus, Crawford County, Ohio, where he met and married Harriet C. Kirk.^[1]

In November of 1865, their first child, Eunice Eliza Gidley, was born in Bucyrus, Crawford County, Ohio.

In July of 1870, Joseph, Harriet, and Eunice were living in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts, and Joseph was a farm worker.

On May 2, 1873, Joseph and Harriet had their 2nd child and daughter, Lucy Kirk Gidley, born in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.

On September 16, 1878, Joseph and Harriet had twins: Herbert Howland Gidley and Helen R. Gidley, born in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.

No records or sources have been found that indicate the only surviving male child of Joseph and Harriet (Herbert Howland Gidley) ever married or had children. Therefore, this particular, direct, Gidley lineage ended.
