Biography
George Alfred Gilbert, the son of John and Bridget, was born on 22 Aug 1854 and baptised at St John's, Parramatta, New South Wales on 24 Sep 1854.[1]
His grandfather Samuel Gilbert, was one of 145 convicts transported on the ship Mariner which departed in May 1816 for New South Wales. He had been convicted at Middlesex Gaol Delivery for a term of 14 years on 21 June 1815.[2]
He married Annie M Hartage in the Ashfield district.[3]
