George was born in 1864 in Wapping, South Windsor CT. He was a tobacco farmer. He married Matilda Olson, who already had a young daughter, Marion. They had one son, also George Gilbert. In the 1910 census his Aunt Amanda Keeney (George's father's sister, widow of Andrew Keeney) was also living with them. He passed away in 1916 of tuberculosis.
