Louise was born in 1767. She passed away in 1826. [1]
I found her will to be very interesting. Not only is it unusual to find a will from a woman while her husband lives, but she also mentions several late relatives that she inherited from and admonishes one child for their “intemperance”. In the will, she mentions her husband, William Pettigrew, as well as her late father, Rev. Jean Louis Gilbert, and her late brother, John Joseph Gilbert. She leaves the estate for her husband and after his death divides it amongst her sons, James L Pettigrew, Thomas Pettigrew, Charles Pettigrew and John G Pettigrew. If John does not reform his ways then the daughters get his portion, Mary Pettigrew, Jane G Pettigrew, Louise Pettigrew, Adeline Pettigrew and Harrieth Pettigrew.
