Biography

Jane was born about 1879. She is the daughter of William Gillespie and Rosa Rhodes.

She was married to Clinton Charles Bell on April 27, 1910 in New Orleans, Louisiana.[1]

Her obituary was published on November 29, 1938 in the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Bell -- At the residence, 420 Senventh street, on Sunday, November 27, 1938, at 7:05 o'clock p.m., JENIE GILLESPIE, beloved wife of the late Clinton Charles Bell, mother of Rosemary Rita Bell, sister of Baker Gillespie, daughter of the late William Gillespie and Rose Rhodes, aged 59 yers, a resident of this city.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral which will take place from the Leitz-Eagan funeral home, 2512 Magazine street, between Second and Third streets on Tuesday, November 29, 1938, at 4 o'clock p.m. Religious services at Our Lady of Good Counsel church.
Interment in Lafayette cemetery No. 1.[2]

April 27, 1910 - Marriage - Married to Jane Elizabeth Gillespie in New Orleans, Louisiana.[4]

1920 - United States Federal Census - In 1920, Clinton C. Bell, 42, and Jennie Bell, 41, are living in New Orleans Ward 11, with their 8 month old daughter, Rosemary. Clinton is listed as a bread baker.[5]

1930 - United States Federal Census - In the 1930 census, Clinton C. Bell, 51, is living with his wife, Jennie E., 51, and their daughter Rosemary R. Bell, 10, in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana. Clinton is listed as a baker in a bakery.[6]

November 27, 1938 - Death - New Orleans, Louisiana.
