Jeremiah Gillett probably came with his brother on the "Recovery of London" in 1634. He went to Windsor, CT. and was no doubt a soldier in the Pequot Indian War 1637. He returned to England, probably to claim land after his father died in 1641. Little is known about him in England, except he had a family and a son Jeremiah Jr, In 1678, Jeremiah Sr. received a land grant from Simsbury, CT., supposedly for his military service in 1637. He never returned to New England to claim this land but his son, called Sgt. Jeremiah Gillett (Jr.) did come over and settled on it in Simsbury. [Mary & John, Vol. 13, pg. 58-71]
