Mary was born in 1884 in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, England [1]. She was one of 12 children of Thomas Gillitt and Fanny Elizabeth Kilborn. Her father was a butcher and farmer.[2]
She married William Davey Wharton in 1912, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.[3]
