Biography
Alexander was born 1795 and died in 1832.
At Alexander's christening, on 21 May 1795, Mrs. Sarah Purcell was named as his God-mother. She was presumably the recently married second wife called Sarah of his maternal grandfather, the Rev Dr. Henry Purcell, who is listed as one of her two God-tathers. The third God-parent was a man called Pierce Butler.
From the family bible we also learn that he fell ill with Whooping Cough on October 1796 and Small Pox in March 1797. To this was added Measles in 1802.
Gillon was killed in a duel on July 12, 1832 at Edisto Island.
