Biography

Nehemiah Gilman b. 1763 in New Hampshire, died 15 Jan 1847, s/o John Gilman of Exeter, New Hampshire: came to New Brunswick, Canada in 1783 as a Loyalist and settled at Waweig, Saint Croix Parish, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada. ^[1]

He married late 1790’s Margaret Limeburner born c1772, died on 29 Nov 1843, d/o Matthew Limeburner, a Penobscot Loyalist who settled in St. Andrews, New Brunswick: they had thirteen children. ^[2]

Nehemiah Gilman and Margaret Lymburner (1772–1843) had the following children:

Jane Gilman (1789–1860), who married William Moore (1774–1860).

William Gilman (1791–), who married Margaret Cameron (1793–).

John Gilman (1791–1868), who married 1st Mary "Mercy" Simpson (1800–1839) and 2nd Elizabeth L. Chapman (1810–1886).

Margaret Gilman (1795–1879), who married 1st William Charles Mooney (1793–1837) and 2nd Daniel Robinson.

Elizabeth "Betsey" Gilman (1796–1836), who married Daniel Hill (1792–).

Nehemiah Gilman (1800–1884), who married Jerusha Courser (1806–1882).

Nancy Agnes Gilman (1802–1879), who married William Clindinin (1802–1889).

Matthew Gilman (1804–), who married Catherine "Kate" Burden (1814–).

Alexander Gilman (1805–1882), who married Katherine Smith (1816–1892).

Mary Gilman (1807–1887), who married Robert McLaskey (1800–1884).

Harriet Gilman (1809–1875), who married Leonard C. Bartlett (1803–1869).

Olive Moore Gilman (1815–1849), who married William Harrison Young (1799–1890).

He died in 1847 in Waweig, Saint Croix, Charlotte, New Brunswick, Canada. Nehemiah and Margaret Gilman's broken headstones were located at the farm of Charles Bartlett in Bayside on Route 127 (near Gilman's Corner) about 9 miles north of St. Andrews.
