Joseph B. Glass was born on May 22, 1777, in Orange, Virginia, his father, William Glassand (1725-1811) his mother, Sarah Jane Pursley (1748-1838). He married Jemima Douglass on February 17, 1796, in Tennessee. They had one child, Mary Glass during their marriage. He died of sickness while in Service at Tennessee Valley, 28 Oct 1814, in Leesburg, Washington, Tennessee at the age of 37.
