Research Notes

  • There are 2 different translations of the "Ebenezer Record Book" listed and as I did not originate this file, I'm not sure which one was used to identify Andreas' children above.
  • For some odd reason I did not find Gnanns listed on the "A List of the Early Settlers in Georgia." They are, however, clearly represented in the "Georgia Salzburger and Allied Families" as well as the online source, Georgia Salzburger History.
  • Also useful has been the list of Salzburger Transports arriving in Savannah from 1734-1752, even if these lists were recorded thru Pastor Boltzius rather than the Captains themselves. I believe Pastor Boltzius had the power to assign families plats of land by the Trustees that controlled the Salzburger grants for 20 years and the ship's lists were one means to keep them organized. This was probably a reaction to the first and abismal failure at settling Old Ebenezer.
