History: Grew up on a farm in the Carbon, Alberta area. Worked various jobs as caretaker, cook and farm help throughout the area. While employed for Mr VanBibber, she met Henry Maurstad. After marriage they moved to Bowness, Alberta. Worked a few years as a nanny.

History(1): At Sundre, Alberta, she provided for her family by hunting rabbits and porcupine during the late 40's early 50's. The last porcupine she shot, was diseased and when she hung it to skin, it was full of maggots. That was the last of her hunting.
