Marguerite Charlotte Godet was born about 1660. She was the daughter of Gédéon Godet III, a French Huguenot of the "Noblesse de Robe". She fled France for London, England, with her father around 1684 during the religious persecution of French Protestants under Roman Catholic King Louis XIV. On 3 March 1685, at St. Martin in the Fields, Anglican church in London, she married recent widower, Pierre-Esprit Radisson (abt.1636-abt.1710), French-born English adventurer and fur trapper with the Hudson's Bay Company in English North America (Canada). They had at least 3 children, including a son, Pierre Radisson, born in London before their March 1685 wedding. [1]
