Biography

Paul Goes was born 15 May 1981, in the Netherlands. He had a twin brother Willem and sister Els. His father was Bert Goes; his mother may have been Truus.^[1][2]

He was an engineer employed by a semiconductor manufacturing company which operated in Malaysia.

Paul was on vacation in Vietnam when he met his future wife, Shuba Jay. The couple was married in a Hindu ceremony in Malaysia, despite Paul being a Dutch Roma Catholic. They had a daughter, Kaela Maya Jay Goes, born 26 Aug 2012.

On 17 Jul 2014, the Goes family was returning to Kuala Lumpur following a visit with Paul's parents in Amsterdam. They were aboard Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (MH17/MAS17) when it was shot down by Russian-controlled forces while flying over eastern Ukraine. All 283 passengers and 15 crew aboard the plane were killed, including the Goes family. The family was buried at Nirvana Memorial Park in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
