Biography

William was born 7 Oct 1742. William Golden was the son of Joseph Golden and Adriantie Lane. He passed away in January or February 1816.[1][2]

Marriages

William had 2 wives and had children with both. He first married Ruth Drake in 1767. They had:

  1. Amy b. 1768 who married Benjamin Drake
  2. Rachel b. 1770 who married Lemuel Hunt
  3. Jerusha b. 1772 who married John Williamson
  4. Pamelia b. 1774 who married John Salyer (Salter?)

After Ruth's death about 1777, he married Christiana Hortman on 28 June 1777. They had:

  2. Abraham Golden b. 1780
  3. Andew Golden b. 1782
  4. Jonathan b. 1784 who married Mary Emrod
  5. Urie b. 1786 who married John Hart

Military Service during the American Revolution

1776 Project
Private William Golden served with 1st Regiment, Hunterdon County Militia, New Jersey Militia during the American Revolution.

William was enlisted in Capt. Tucker's Company, 1st Reg't, Continental Army, and was captain of the militia after the war ended.[1][3] The DAR lists his service under Capt. Joab Houghton, Col. Isaac Smith, 1st Reg't., Hunterdon Co. Militia; and also that he furnished material aid. [4]
