Cyril Gonyea was born 23 Oct 1849 in Erie to David GonyeaEuphrosine Brancheau. He was baptized the following day at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Erie.[1]
On 6 Sep 1870 he married Marie Josephine Parent at St Charles Catholic Church, Newport.[2][3][4][5]
After their marriage Cyril worked at John W. Strong's stave mill and they lived in Strong's employee quarters in Berlin Township, (So. Rockwood postal address where their first six children were born. He lived and worked there for 10 years.
In 1880, shortly after the census, they moved to a home on Compeau Road and the U.S. Turnpike in East Rockwood, (Brownstown township) in Wayne county, Rockwood postal address where he took up farming. Their last nine children were born at the East Rockwood home.
In August of 1920 their house on Compau Road in East Rockwood was struck by lightning. Cyril was severely burned in the resulting fire and on Aug 16 he died as a result of the burns.[6]
