James Goodrich, son of Thomas and Hannah (Reynolds) Goodrich, was born about 2 Aug. or May 1721 at Glastonbury, Hartford County, Connecticut.[1][2]
He married Susannah Hale.[1] on 15 Oct. 1745.[2]
According to the "Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionary War", James fought in the Revolutionary War as a Private with Capt. Joseph Barns Co.,Col. Benjamin Symonds (Berkshire County) regiment, enlisted April 26, 1777, discharged May 19, 1777, service 24 days; company called out by order of Maj. Gen. Gates and marched to Saratoga, roll sworn to before Chairman of committee of Lanesborough, also Capt. David Wheelers's Co., Col. John Brown's detachment of militia, enlisted June 30, 1777, discharged July 25, 1777, service 26 days; detachment stationed at Fort Ann, roll sworn to before Chairman of committee of Lanesborough, also Capt. Ebenezer Newell's Co., Col. Symond's regiment, service 8 days; company marched from Lanesborough to Meloomscuyck on the alarm of Aug. 14, 1780; also Capt. Peter Porter's detachment from Gen. Fellows (Berkshire County) brigade; enlisted July 1, 1778, discharged October 31, 1778, service 4 months at Albany under Gen. Stark. [3] James died on 17 Aug. 1815 in Lanesborough, Berkshire County, Massachusetts and was buried at Center Cemetery, Lanesborough, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. His memorial has a photo of his headstone, detailed biographical material and links to those of family members.[1]
