John M. Goolsby was born about 1838 in South Carolina, his father, Anson Goolsby and his mother, Mariah Osbourne (1793-deceased). he married Addie C. Hunt on 20 Apr 1859 in Macon, Alabama. He died as a POW on 24 Feb 1865 at Camp Chase, Columbus, Franklin, Ohio and buried in Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery, Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.
