Mary was the daughter of Thomas Sanders Gore Jr. and Katherine Flanagan.[1][2]
Mary married James F. Folkner on 29 April 1950 at Clinton, Hickman County, Kentucky.[3]

Mary Katherine Folkner, 96, devoted mother and loving grandmother, died on Monday, April 1, 2013.
She was born in 1916 in Clinton, KY. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's degree in library science and a master's at Western Kentucky. Mary Katherine moved to Chattanooga during World War II while working for TVA as a librarian. Later, she worked at the Chattanooga Public Library. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Chattanooga. She attended the Mary Class Sunday School.
Mary Katherine was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James E. Folkner, a World War II Marine Corps veteran, her parents, brother, and sister.
She is survived by her son, James A. and his wife Tracey Folkner and three grandchildren, Jennifer Folkner, James E. Folkner II, and Nicole and her husband, Wesley Walker.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN.
Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2013 and 12-1 p.m. on Monday, April 8, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN.
