Edward Nelson Beresford 'Ted' Goslett was born on 1st November 1912 in Wingham, on the Manning River on New South Wales' Mid-North Coast, Australia; upriver from Taree. He was the younger son of William Goslett and Alma Garlick. [1] His mother passed away due to complications with the birth. His Dad married again in 1920, in Victoria, and passed away there in 1930. It is assumed that Ted and Duncan remained with their mother's family during this time.
On 1st July 1940, Ted enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) for service during the Second World War. He attained the senior non-commissioned rank of Flight Sergeant and served his final posting with the No.3 MC Station. [2]
Ted married Sheila Carle in 1943 in Taree. [3]
Upon war's end, and victory, Ted was discharged from the RAAF on 26th September 1945. [2]
Aged 78 years and having been widowered for fourteen years, Ted passed away on 3rd July 1991 in Taree and was buried with his late wife and son in the Redbank General Cemetery, Pampoolah, on the eastern side of the Manning River, south east of Taree and south of Cundletown. [4][5]
