Early Life

Marie Angélique Gosselin [as spelled in the record] was the first born child of Joseph Marie Gosselin and Marie Louise Paquet. She was born on 16 Sep 1791 at Vechères, Province de Québec, and baptized that same day at Saint-François-Xavier, Vechères, Province de Québec. Her godparents were maternal grandparents, Joseph Paquet and Marie Angélique Coursol.^[1]

First Marriage

Marie Angélique married Joseph Louis Marier 30 Jan 1815 at Saint-François-Xavier, Vechères, Bas-Canada.^[2] In this record, Marie Angélique is identified as "Marie Louise". This is the only record in which Angélique is ever identified with the name Louise. Could this have been an error on the writer's part, given that Marie Angélique's mother was a "Marie Louise"? The omission of her given name, "Angélique", gives credence to this idea.

Second Marriage

Marie Angélique married Jean Baptiste Royer [spelled Rogner in the record] were married on 25 Jun 1821 at Saint-François-Xavier, Vechères, Bas-Canada.^[3] Marie Angélique was a widow with small children, but Jean Baptiste had never been married. Jean Baptiste was a farmer in Saint-Marc with ties to Saint-Charles, where his father still lived. Marie and her widowed mother lived at Vechères, and attended church at Saint-François-Xavier. Marie Angélique and Jean Baptiste would stay at Vechères for a few years before relocating to Saint-Pie, Bas-Canada.

Death & Burial

Marie Angélique Gosselin passed away on 13 Apr 1875 in Saint Pie, Bagot, Québec, Canada. She was referred to as "Angélique Gosselin" in her burial record.^[4]
