The birth of Richard Gott is recorded in St. James Parish in an entry with many of his siblings and his parents. The entry is bracketed by births dated in 1698 so was likely made at that time by his father, who was also Richard Gott. He was born on 2 MAY 1692 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.[1]
Property
Richard was living in Anne Arundel County on 3 SEP 1723 when he and his wife, Sarah conveyed to Richard Galloway, gentleman of the same county, a 50 acre part of a tract called Sparrow’s Nest which became the property of Sarah Gott after the decease of Sara Galloway, the relict of Solomon Sparrow by virtue of Solomon Sparrow’s will of 16 APR 1718.[2]
Richard was identified as living in Baltimore County by 16 JUL 1724 when he and Sarah, conveyed to Jacob Holland for £8 sterling a 120 acre tract out of a 580 acre tract called Holland’s Choice lying on the south side of the Patapsco River.[3]
Marriage & Children
Richard most likely married Sarah Sparrow sometime before 1718. The 1718 will of Solomon Sparrow (abt.1652-bef.1718) does not identify her as his daughter, but he left 50 acres of land to Sarah Gott, so researchers assume she was his daughter. [4]. Richard's children are named in his will:
Ruth b. 9 FEB 1725 m. William Towson
Sarah b. 19 JAN 1722 m. -?- Owings
Samuel Gott b. 10 MAY 1718
Elizabeth b. 11 MAY 1724
Richard Gott b. 17 MAY 1726
Cassandra b. 1 AUG 1728
Anthony Gott b. 19 MAR 1731/32
