Birth
Robert Dalgliesh Graham was born in 1862 in Pollokshaws, Renfrewshire, Scotland in the United Kingdom. He was the son of Irish-born William Graham, a paper mill worker, and Margaret Dalgliesh. ^[1] He was baptized on 15 June 1862 in the Cathcart Old Parish Church in Cathcart, Renfreshire, Scotland. ^[2] Robert appears to have been named after his maternal grandfather (his mother's father): Robert Dalgliesh, a weaver.

Early life
In the 1861 Scotland Census, Robert's parents and siblings were living at 71 High Street in Paisley, Renfrewshire. His father was working as a labourer for a gas company.

By the 1871 Scotland Census, Robert, age 8, his parents and his siblings were living at 80 Main Street in Pollokshaws, a town in the parish of Eastwood on the south side of Glasgow (south of the River Clyde). Robert was attending school. His father was working as calenderer in a paper mill. ^[3]

In the 1881 Scotland Census, Robert, age 19, his parents and his siblings were living at 60 Pollok Street in Pollokshaws. The census shows that Robert was working as a loom warper. His father William was still working as calenderer in a paper mill. ^[4]

For the 1891 Scotland Census, Robert, age 28, his parents and his siblings were living at 17 Rossendale Road in Pollokshaws. Robert was employed as a general clerk. His father still worked as a paper calenderman. ^[5] Robert also appears in the 1891 England and Wales Census as a visitor to a Matthew Graham's household in Laughton, Sussex, England, where he was working as a book keeper. ^[6]

Form 1897 to the 1901, Robert was boarding with the GOULD family at 47 Kenwyn Road in Clapham, London, England. ^[7] This was the home of his future wife and in-laws. He was working as a chartered accountant.

Marriage
Robert, age 40, married 24-year-old Ellen "Nellie" Gould, a school teacher, in 1902. They were married in Lambeth, London, England. ^[8]

Robert and Ellen would have two daughters:

1. Stella Margaret Graham born in 1908
2. Lorna Mabel Graham born in 1914

Electoral Registers from 1905 show Robert and Ellen living at 46 Crescent Lane in Battersea, London, England.

From 1908 to 1914, Robert, Ellen and their children lived at 64 Briarwood Road, Clapham Park S. W. in London. This according to baptism records for their daughters Stella Margaret and Lorna Mabel , as well as the 1911 England Census. ^[9]

Electoral Registers from 1919 and 1921, show Robert and his family living at "Polwarth" 14 Park Hill SW in Wandsworth, London.

London city directories from 1925 to 1933 show Robert and his family living at 49 Upper Tulse Hill S.W. in London. They then lived at 70 Lamberhurst Road in Lambeth, London from 1934 to 1938, according to electoral registers from those years.

Robert and Ellen's daughter Stella Margaret Graham married in 1936. Her marriage record shows her father's occupation as an "accountant."

The "1939 England and Wales Register" finds Robert and Ellen living at Lucky Patch", Oaklands Park in Barnstaple, Devon, England. Both were retired from working. ^[10]

Death
Robert passed away at age 86 in 1948 in Wandsworth, London. ^[11] His estate passed probate on 22 November 1948 in London. ^[12]
