Walter Graham is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A046798.

Walter was born 18 Mar 1759 to John Graham and Elizabeth Cocke. He married Sarah (Sally) Richards before 1802. [1]

Walter fought in the American Revolution, serving in Capt. James Sullivan's Company, 13th Virginia Regiment, under Col. William Russell. [1] He enlisted as a private at sixteen. When crossing the Delaware, he saved the life of Gen. Marshall at the risk of his own. For his bravery, he was placed on that officer's staff. He served to the end of the war. [2] Walter's name first appears on the army roll dated Sept. 6, 1777 (as a Lieutenant), [3] and his name last appears on the roll for April 1778 (as a Lieutenant), and bears the remarks "Sent on Command - Left Nov. 1777". [4]
