Biography

Ephraim Grant, born 6 Apr 1750 at Tolland, Connecticut, was the first child of Mary West & Ephraim Grant.

He married 3 times:

1) 14 Oct 1772 @ Stockbridge, Massachusetts, Lucy Woodbridge of East Hartford, Connecticut [b. 1752, daughter of Hon. Timothy Woodbridge & Abigail Day; d. 9 May 1788]
2) 14 May 1789 @ Mansfield, Connecticut, Sarah Cary [b. 25 May 1761, daughter of Ebenezer Cary & Sarah Trumbull; d. 11 Oct 1804 @ Tolland, Connecticut]. They had 7 children, all born at Tolland:
  1. Lucy Grant (4 May 1790 - 19 Nov 1790)
  2. Lucy Grant, b. 7 Dec 1792; married 3 Sep 1816 @ Batavia, New York, David Ellicott Evans; d. 24 Sep 1824 @ Batavia, New York

  6. Sidney Grant, b. 17 Sep 1800; married 28 Mar 1827 @ Ellington, Connecticut, Mary Ann McKinney; d. 28 Feb 1883 @ Manchester, Connecticut
  7. Damaris Carey Grant (2 Nov 1802 - 13 Feb 1805)
Sarah (Cary) Grant died 11 Oct 1804, after which time Ephraim Grant married:
3) 13 (or 18) 1808 Sarah Babcock of Hartford, Connecticut, who died 5 Feb 1843 @ Tolland, Connecticut, "age 78"; they had twins, born 26 Jul 1809, both of whom died in infancy.

Ephraim Grant was a commissary in the American Revolutionary War. He later became a clerk of courts of Tolland County, Connecticut, 1786 - 1814. He served as treasurer of Tolland County, then town clerk in in 1789.

Ephraim Grant died 29 Sep 1814 at Tolland, Connecticut.
