John Grey was born about 1689, being baptised at Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex on 19 Apr 1689 the son of Richard and Elizabeth Gray. [1]
He married Johanna Gurson at Stansted Mountfitchet on Oct 20 1713. [2]
His father died in 1725/26 leaving a will as of "Richard Gray the elder of Stansted Moutfitchet, brickmaker" proved 5 Mar 1725/26. [3] He left John five acres of land in Stansted Mountfitchet.
He died in 1762 leaving a will as of "John Gray of Stansted Mountfitchet, yeoman". [4]

To Richard Gray my son my cottage I recently built at Stony field common, Stansted Mountfitchet, wherein John Scott now dwells. And after the decease of said Richard my son, the same cottage to my grandosn Richard, son of my son Richard Gray.
My close of land at Stony field Common, Stansted Mountfitchet containgin two acres, plus another three acres at the same location to my son John Gray.
My cottage and tenement in Bradford street, Stansted Moutnfitchet to my son James Gray.
To my daughter Mary, the wife of John Lavender of Stansted Mountfitchet, five shillings.
To my son Joseph Gray one guinea of the value 21 shillings.
To my granddaughter Thomasin Williams £8, at forty shillings a year, towards her maintenance
All residue to my sons John and James Gray.

To my daughter Johnana Payne 40 shillings.
To my granddaughter Hannah Payne £5.
To my grandson Gray Tubbs £5 to be paid when he reaches age of 12 years.
Residue of goods to wife Johana Gray and after her decease what remains to my granddaughters Maria Hutley and Elizabeth Goldsborough.
