Biography

Eugene Wesley Green was born about 1862, son of Alexander Green and Mary Jane Summers. His birth date is herein estimated on data supporting the nativity of his parents, his spouse, and those of his children, and affirmed by the Find-A-Grave reference showing his burial marker.

Eugene Wesley Green was married two times. He married in 1883 Martha Jane (Gregory) Green (1866-1904). Several children resulted from this marriage during the timespan until her death in 1904.

His second marriage was on May 2, 1905, to Martha Belle (Yawberry) (1886-1936) [1], the mother of his last 4 children:

  1. ZULA Marie (Green) Lotts (1907-)
  2. William Eugene Green (1909-)
  3. Gladys (Green) Vonvain (1910-)
  4. Lee Wolden Green (1913-1984)

Note: Martha Yawberry was married three times, first to an Adams, 2nd to Eugene W Green, and her last marriage was George Reeves. She had no children with George Reeves. She had two children with Adams and her last four children were with Eugene W Green [2].

Eugene Wesley Green died 15 Dec 1946. His remains are buried at GREGORY CEMETERY, Crawford Co. Missouri, USA [3].

Eugene Wesley Green was my husband’s great grandfather. His son Irvin Preston Green was my husband’s grandpa. Eugene Wesley Green’s first wife, Martha Gregory, was Irvin’s mother. My husband’s grandfather, Irvin told him that when his dad was remarried to Martha Belle Yarberry, she gave away three of the younger boys while Eugene Wesley was on a trip to St. Louis for supplies. They owned a small store and Martha Belle complained that those boys kept taking candy from the store. It took Eugene Wesley a long time to find his three younger sons again.

Martha Belle Yawberry was in fact Eugene's second wife and my great grandmother. George Reeves was her third marriage. They were married May 2, 1905. Source is the marriage record in Crawford County MO.
