He graduated from Harvard University in 1814. He was admitted to practice law in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, and later moved to Norwich, Connecticut in 1824. He served as Mayor of Norwich, Connecticut from 1842 until 1843. [2][1]
He was the second President of Norwich Free Academy, and made a number of contributions to support its growth. [1]
He died suddenly in Norwich, Connecticut on June 18, 1864[1]. He was buried in Yantic Cemetery, Norwich, Connecticut. [3]
