Obituary

NEW ALBANY - Joseph Henry "Joe" Greer, 80, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Sept. 19, 1928, in Keownville to John Frank Greer and Pearl Ann Quinn Greer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Crossroads Apostolic Church. He loved his church and church family, and was well known in many area churches for his singing. He lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger.
Survivors include four daughters, Betty Ann Self of Enterprise, Rhonda Pearl Pannell (Mike) of Enterprise, Johnnie Faye Vanstory (fiancé, Robert Whaley) of Mantachie and Sherry O'Connell (James) of Endville; three sons Danny Joe Greer of Pinedale, Terry Wayne Greer (Shelia) of Keownville and Billy George Greer of Oxford; 23 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Ann Windham. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jessie Faye Thomas Gates Greer; daughter, Vickie Lynn Greer; daughter-in-law, Patricia Greer; and four brothers, Roy Greer, George Greer, Russell Greer and Wayne Greer. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.^[2]
