Biography

I am wondering if there is more than one Colin Gresty here as censuses give father as John whereas baptismal record lists his father as Samuel (in both cases mother is Jane). The 1871 census gives place of birth as Norbury, whilst 1891 states it as The Haigh, Cheshire, a location which I can find in no gazetteer. At this point he is a veterinary surgeon. Ten years before, the 1881 census showed him training in Edinburgh, unhelpfully giving his place of birth as 'England'. This individual marries an Emma Eliza Snowball (really!) in Newcastle upon Tyne, 1889 and may have died in Ireland (Dublin South) in March 1895.

In fact the only anomaly appears to be the father's name in the 1871 census, so I am completing the profile assuming this to be a clerical error but I would suggest treating the conclusion with caution!
