Martin Griffin was born in 1861 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia, son of Catherine (Leahy) Griffin and Patrick Griffin.

He married Mary Josephine Kilduff in 1890 in Victoria.^[1] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}

Martin died on 3 February 1929 in Ballarat, aged 67 years.^[2]

   On the 3rd February there passed away, after a long illness, patiently borne, a much-respected resident of Invermay, Mr. Martin Griffin. He was respected by all for his many sterling qualities. He leaves a widow, son, and two daughters to mourn the loss of a good husband and father R.l.P.
