Biography
Mary Ida Grimes was born 29 Oct 1862 in Liberty Township, McKean, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Dana Grimes and Lydia Chase.
In 1870 the family was still living in Liberty. Family members included: Dana Grimes 51, farmer; Lydia 38, Frank 19; Lydia 17; Ophelia 15; Fred 12; Mary 7; Warren 4; May 2. Liberty, McKean, Pennsylvania, USA.
Mary married Eli W. Kelley probably before October 18, 1877 as that is when Thomas was born.
In 1880 Mary is listed on the Eulalia, Potter, Pennsylvania census with her husband Eli and son Thomas. Eli was 24, Mary was 17, and Thomas was 1.
In 1900 Mary Kelley was living at 224 N. Seventh in Olean, New York. She is listed as head of household, a widow age 37, born Oct 1862, 4 of 5 children living, son Thomas, age 20, born June 1879, son Harry, age 18, born August 1881, son George, age 9, born June 1890, and daughter Essie, age 8, born March 1892. All of the children had been born in Pennsylvania.
Mary died 29 July 1929 In Olean, New York.
NOTE: I have not as yet found a marriage certificate for Mary and Eli.
