OBITUARY.
MR. ABRAHAM GRIMMETT.
The death has occurred of Mr. Abraham Grimmett, an old and respected member of the district, who died suddenly at Parkes yesterday morning at the age of 62 years. The large cortege moved from the Methodist Church this afternoon, his many friends paying their last tribute to a fine and upright man, and, with the relatives who deeply mourn his loss, were present at the graveside when the Rev. Ellis Thomas read the last sad rites in the Methodist portion of the local cemetery. The late Mr. Grimmett was born in Victoria, and with his parents settled at Kadina, in the "eighties," being one of the first families to select in that district. He later settled at "Mt. Auburn". He was a very
successful farmer, finally leasing the "Mt. Auburn" property, and retiring, living for the last seventeen years at his abode in High Street.
The deceased married Miss Jane Gallagher, of "Warrabery," and as issue of this marriage were Les, Mrs Hankey (Gladys), Lance and Ray. His first wife predeceased him by 27 years, and later he was married to Miss Blanche Ward, of "Nottingham," Kamandra, Harry and Jack being issue of the second marriage.
The late Mr. Grimmett was very quiet and unassuming and took little part in public affairs, but he was well known as a member of the Methodist Church. He leaves a sorrowing wife and family: Les (Parkes), Gladys (Mrs. Hankey, Lidcombe), Lance (Trundle), Ray (Hillston), Jack (Parkes) and Harry (Parkes), also a brother James (Queensland), and a sister, Mrs. Chas. Watts, residing in Victoria.
