Biography

Volga German

John (Grun) Green has German Roots.

Johannes Grun was born 14 Dec 1884 in Norka, Volga, Russia. Some records reflect 1886.

He came to America in 1922 accompanying his step-mother Emilie Gottman from Germany and her grandchild Emil Gottman. She was headed to her brother Julius Marx in Morgan Hill, California.

He was a miner by January 1930. He was listed unmarried in both naturalization documents.

John Green married Frieda Eisal in 1935 in Vancouver, Washington and they had two children, settling in Portland, Oregon, where Frieda was born.

John was a machinist in a furniture factory by 1940 in Portland.[2]

He passed away in 1976 in Portland, Oregon.
