Biography

Benjamin George Gunner was born in 1893, the child of Charles Gunner and Jessie Mason, and in 1901 was living with his parents, at Ridgemede House, Bishop's Waltham.

He was killed in action, age 23, near Ypres, on 7 Oct 1915, when he was a Captain serving in the 1st Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers. Some records suggest that he had been awarded an MC, but the attribution is not clear. His name is inscibed on the War Memorial in the churchyard of St. Peter, Bishop's Waltham, which is pictured on a Wikitree freespace profile.
