Kermit A. Gunther, 74, of Batesville died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at a Little Rock hospital.
Born Aug. 29, 1927, at O’Neal, he was the son of George Franklin and Minnie E. Bullard Gunther.
He served in the United States Air Force for 26 years and retired as a master sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 114 of Batesville and a member of Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Joy L. Gunther; a stepson, Michael Wilson of Randolph, Mass.; three daughters, Linda Gallagher, Judith Shidaker and Kathy Gray, all of Wilmington, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Linda Bennett of Waldorf, Md.; two sisters, Maude Wood of Cushman and Gladys Henery of Cave City; six grandchildren, Angela Gilbert of Merrick, N.Y., Shannon Huffman of Marietta, Ga., Leeann Gray, Brian Shidaker and Morgan Gallagher, all of Wilmington, and Kristen Bennett of Waldorf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Everett Gunther; and two sisters, Faye Loveless and Ethel Winkle.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville with Carl Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Cushman.
Pallbearers will be Bill Benson, Jerry Waugh, Clyde Stewart, George Crigler, Rob Roberts and George Kimmer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Barbara Fitzpatrick, Greg Waugh, Charlie Traub, Tom Shaw, Jeff Thomey, Billy Benson and Sam Hurley.
