"Lieut. Israel Gurley died August 22, 1776, age 31 years. He died at Guilford, Vermont, and is buried at Guilford, at the same place where Rev. Ebenezer Gurley and his wife are buried. This yard is sadly neglected, the headstones are badly broken down, and the yard is used as a pasture. (1896)"
