Jacob was married to Wilhelmina Jeckel January 18, 1844 in St Clair Co, IL. The couple had about four children, three daughters and one son.
Jacob engaged for several years in the brewery business and became quite prosperous. His firm, Yackel and Haas conducted the Bluff City Brewery until it was sold to other parties.
